Autumn Woods
Oil on Canvas
18x24
I was going through some of my old paintings and came across this one from years back. This style is so foreign to me now. It was done when I was just learning to paint with oils. But I just had to pull it out because autumn is my very favorite time of year. It's hard to believe that it's almost October.
Here is my favorite autumn quote:
The fields are harvested and bare,
And Winter whistles through the square.
October dresses in flame and gold
like a woman afraid of growing old.

it is strange when looking at paintings that we did in the earlier stages of our learning and how they have a special place in our hearts. this painting has a feel of where you are now and the quote with this post is so apt.
Well, you may have just been starting out, but it's beautiful! Can't wait until all the wooded areas are gold like that!
It is fun to see your older work. You liked the warm palette then too! Love the quote...I *AM* afraid of growing old! LOL
Oldies but goodies. Autumn is also my favorite time of year!
What a beautiful painting and quote. Perfect for this time of year. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us. xo
This may be an old painting, but, as we know, old is not a bad thing. Right?
I really like the broken color in this piece.
It is a lovely painting Janelle full of light. That lovely warm glow of autumn colour is especially nice. While this is an old painting it still has it's own quiet voice.
Your poem reminded me of a song my sister and I knew from our grade school days. I have googled it, but never find it...maybe it isn't too politically correct anymore? "Hooray for gay September, see her passing by...can't remember this part...September wears a party dress of Lavender and gold. Oldies are goodies, both songs and paintings.
It's fun to see how so much is similar and yet different. Love both ways of working!
