Following the Muse

I'm getting ready for a big lifestyle change. Over the next months and coming year, my husband and I will be preparing to move out to the country on 200 acres of property. I can't go into the details, since that would involve privacy issues concerning other family members, but ... there's no way I can continue this blog without mentioning it.

After all, I'm a landscape painter. So I'm thrilled that I'll finally be in touch with daily reference material. Open skies and land. Yes!
Here's a little gravel road leading in to where we'll be living. Is that sunlight shining on dust? Or maybe a woods faerie?
The deer decided they should run for cover after staring at us for a full two minutes. I need to be quicker with the camera.

So I imagine that I'll be posting my paintings as they come off the easel from now on. But you'll also be hearing about painting walls and all kinds of projects that come with getting an old house ready for sale. Our target is to move next year. But there are so many projects to get ready in the meantime!

Congratulations!! A landscape painter should live among the woods faeries, open skies and land spreading out far and wide. Looking forward to reading about all the fun details.

I am so jealous. I have always wanted to be surrounded by lots of land. Your inspirations will be all around you. From the photos you showed us of the house you are in now, I don't think it needs much to get ready to sell. It is a wonderful 1920's home. Can't wait to hear all the wonderful details. It will be a great adventure. Will the new digs be a newer house, old house, or a new build? Do I see a new studio in the future?

Sounds fantastic! Changes seem to be in the air for many of us painters and fellow bloggers around the world, recently. Don't you think that places and homes chose us? My own move is almost complete, still in an old house (200 years old) but with a fantastic English cottage rose garden..... surrounded by hills, the moor and the sea. I can't wait to get painting again. I may have to turn my hand to Roses in watercolor (lol)....
I think the image in your photo is a kind, welcoming spirit.....

Hi Sam, Me too!!! Thanks!

Hi Caroline, I wonder how a new location will affect my painting. Yes, it's definitely a wood faery! Thanks!

Hi Melinda, Thanks for the kind wishes!

Hi Manon, Did I ever tell you that I love your name? Thanks!

Hi Deborah, Thank you! You're my inspiration!

Hi Betsy, No, we're not building a house. My husband will be managing his brother's farm and we'll be remodeling an existing house, making it our own. Thank you!

Hi Jala, A woods sprite - I love it! Thanks!

Hi Rahina, Well, I think it will feel like my own personal woodland. Sure why not! Thanks!

Hi Karen, I've got to stop by your blog and tell you how much I love your clearing painting. Thanks!

Hi Kathleen, Yes, I've been feeling a little root bound since we've lived here for so long. Change is good. Thanks!

Hi Loriann, I'm looking forward to seeing your new online offerings. So exciting! Thanks¡

Hi Celeste, Suburbia is getting a little tiresome, so this will be a welcome change. Thank you!

Hi Marion, Yes, landscape material won't be a problem. Blessings to you too!!

Hi Cara, It's so good to hear from you! Thank you!!

Hi Catherine, We'll be doing some changes to an existing house (like installing wood floors, etc.). I'm not sure where to paint yet. I definitely need a new studio but haven't figured out the details yet. Thank you!

Hi Maggie, Oh, I would love to see images of your new house and beautiful surroundings sometime. It sounds wonderful. Yes, I think houses do choose us. It was the case for us! Thank you!

Congratulations on your pending move. I live in the woods among faeries and wood sprites along with the mosquitoes and ticks. Problem is the time I have to paint is in the summer and everything is too green!
