Sonata

Sonata
Oil on Stretched Canvas
16x20

I enjoy reading blogs where the postings are frequent.  Unfortunately, I have been posting sporadically, at best, lately.  I very much hope that I can start to post much more in the future.

Painting is part of who I am at my deepest core.  I feel most at home in my own skin when I am at my easel.  I find myself getting into the zone while painting.  Time flies.  Usually I listen to music, especially Josh Groban, as it seems his beautiful voice carries me forward while painting.  There is energy in his voice.

I would love to hear what kind of music you listen to while painting or doing some other creative endeavor.  What feeds your soul?

Wonderful painting, Janelle. Your art makes me feel happy & serene. I do a lot of mixed media & craft projects & sewing. My husband watches tv and I sit here and make collages, crochet or write. I keep an art table overflowing with my supplies here in the den. I can zone out completely...A few weeks ago I took a paperclay doll-making class & can't wait to make another doll. When I work to music it's usually classic rock, lots of Fleetwood Mac, Cat Stevens, Emmylou Harris, Nick Cave & P. J. Harvey...or the radio!! What music do you listen to? xo

It is hard to keep up with the posts in blogging land Janelle I try and fail often! But I have enjoyed looking back at your beautiful paintings that are full of serene peace. Wish it was peaceful here there is a terrific storm blowing out tonight and we had to drive through a few snow storms today, it is so wonderful to see your tranquil paintings!

Hi Marion,
I would love to see your paperclay dolls. Maybe you could post them on your blog. Besides Josh Groban, sometimes I listen to Loreena McKennit, Lifehouse or John Mayer. But Josh Groban's music is sublime. Thanks so much for your comment!

Caroline, Funny you should mention the weather. Just today we received a blizzard with 20 inches of snow. Tomorrow we will be digging out (ha). Thank you for your lovely comments, as always.

Lovely painting Janelle! I enjoy your work. I hate to admit but I am a news junkie and listen to the radio most of the day (usually NPR). I have found that I think more clearly when listening to music and have made myself a promise to start listening to my blues albums when painting!
