Lambert Lake Twilight
Oil on Linen
24x30
This painting is almost done. I don't want to insert any more details, yet there are a couple more glazes that need to be put on. It's at the point where I'm almost afraid to touch it. There is more time spent at the easel gazing at it, than painting. I look at it from across the room to see what else might need to be done. I've spent three weeks on this painting so we're very good friends by now.
On another note, I need to mention that our move out to the country has been put on hold indefinitely. When I found this out, it was very disappointing. I felt like gnashing my teeth and throwing something. After feeling sad for about a week, I've come to realize that my glass really is half full. My husband and I have a beautiful, comfortable, yet small, home. Our loved ones are healthy and happy. There are too many blessings to count, yet if I were to write them down, they would fill volumes.
Something to keep in mind this Thanksgiving season. Abundance is all around us. So Happy Thanksgiving and Blessings to You All.

Very calm and balanced. Reassuring.
Sorry about your changed plans. But you seem to be doing a graceful adaptation from disappointment to gratitude.
You are so close. It is wise of you to just look and listen now. You will know what to do. Beautiful so far.
Abundance is everywhere, enjoy!
I always love your paintings at this stage! Gorgeous!
the painting is looking wonderful Janelle... and you have the right attitude when it comes to things going another way... you never know what good can from from that. happy thanks giving when it comes
Your painting is amazing, as always, Janelle, and looks perfect. (My husband paints and he always has trouble stopping a painting. I'll tell him to LEAVE IT BE, but he doesn't listen to me. LOL!)
I'm really sorry about your move not working out. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones. I'm thankful to have had the pleasure of see your beautiful artwork this year. Thank you for sharing it so generously.
Love & Blessings,
Marion
This painting has a different kind of view point, looking across to the distant shore and the unknown. It has a sense of mystery. Very beautiful. I guess it is like our lives, we don't know where our paths will take us and there is always a sense of mystery.
I agree, we must appreciate what we have now and hope for the best in the future.
And congratulations on the gallery showing!! Your paintings look great..I always said they would look amazing hanging together.
Lovely painting Janelle, I can see the sky holes through the trees and as usual they are so well painted, I know this is difficult. I especially love the colours in your painting and the serene quality in the composition and use of a limited palette. It is truely worth taking your time over a painting and I agree the looking part is as important as the painting part. I am so glad you have posted your painting as I was looking out for a post from you regarding a new painting. Very beautiful work Janelle.
Hi Sam, I'm so glad you see my painting that way. It's what I'm trying to portray.
Hi Loriann, Yes, look and listen. I know it must be speaking:)
Hi Betsy, Thank you so much!
Hi Rahina, Yes, sometimes the good is hidden. We never know, do we.
Hi Marion, Ha, I wish I had someone to tell me when to leave a painting alone:) Your poems mean a lot to me too!
Hi Catherine, Good point in that life is mysterious in that we never really know certain things. And yes, it really surprised me when I saw all my paintings hanging together:)
Hi Caroline, My fellow tonalist painting! Yes, you understand the process. I can tell by the unique, lovely work you put into your sky paintings!
great work on this painting--it is very inviting. Sorry you've had some plans dashed...but I sure like your attitude about it. My Mom always said one door closes and another opens--I guess there is something in store for you that will be better.
What a beautiful, shimmering, glowing painting! I know what it's like to be at the point of...do I continue or do I leave it alone?
As far as the move to the country...it might be for the best. I live in the country and I am ready to cash it all in on a small house in the city. I used to be able to paint outside, but I am plagued with stinkbugs, poison ivy, deer ticks, etc. Be thankful for your beautiful studio!
Hi Celeste, I'm hoping that another door opens. Thanks for your comment!
Hi Neetzy, I'm thankful for my little light-filled studio. But I'm still envious of people (like you) who live in the country. Hope your doggie is now skunk smell free!
