Golden Light

Golden Light
24x18
Oil on Linen

I love the light at this time of year.  During the summer months the light can be hazy or bright, depending on the cloud cover.  But at this time of year the light is either golden or silvery.  To me there is a deep feeling of contentment and connection to the earth as we go toward the cooler months.

It's time to turn on the oven to make roasts.  And I love making soups and stews accompanied by crisp loaves of bread.  We all gather by the fire when the sun goes down.  It's a time of renewed energy.

This is obviously your time of year. Your golden paintings give you away. You are Autumn.

We're enjoying our first week of fall comfort foods, too! And it's cold enough at night to close the windows!

Janelle, I'd love for you to do a post on any of your own art that you love so much that it's hanging in your home. I'm sure you have a few pieces on your own walls, right? :)

I love the light this time of year, too, even though it's 98 degrees here in Louisiana today! As soon as a cool spell hits, we'll be making big pots of seafood gumbo and deer chili.

Your painting captures the soft light just perfectly. Blessings!

Janelle your 'Golden Light' reminds me of a Victorian English painting. That lovely simplicity of subject matter and the warm glow of light flowing through the trees. You have mastered the sky peeking through the trees perfectly and I know how difficult this is to do. This really is a very fine gem of a painting.

There is definitely a richness to the light at this time of year, and you have definitely portrayed it well in this painting. I agree with you that there does seem to be a connection with nature at this time of year, perhaps the bounty that she gives us.
I just loved Farm Field Sunset. It really portrays the color and richness of Autumn and suggests the warmth we feel as the cooler air arrives.
I have been away for a bit, nursing my 26 year old daughter after she was hit by a car while riding her bike. She will be fine, her broken collar bone must heal and 6 teeth to be replaced. I have to say, despite the circumstances, it has been nice having her back in the nest for a bit. Its funny to hear her say now that she needs to spread her wings and leave the nest again. There is definitely renewed energy in our lives and in the season.

Hi Sam, You got me. Is it that obvious?:)

Hi Betsy, Yes, I love the chilly, cozy weather. Thanks for the idea. It's a good one!

Hi Susan, Thank you so much!

Hi Christopher, I'm glad I discovered your blog. I need to know more about art history and I think your own art is awesome!

Hi Marion, Oooo, seafood gumbo and deer chilli. Sounds so good! Blessings to you too!

Hi Loriann, Yes, I wish it were autumn all year round!

Hi Caroline, I think it's interesting that you think my painting looks like a Victorian English painting. Hmm, I need to do some research. Thank you!

Hi Susan, Thank you! I'll be sending you an email soon regarding Marion St. Gallery (yipee).

Hi Catherine, Oh dear, I'm glad your daughter is all right although that must have been quite a jolt. Yes, it's a good sign that she wants to spread her wings and leave the nest again. No matter how old our kids get, we still worry. Thanks for your comment!

Your work is beautiful and so perfectly captures the light I am seeing with my camera as the fields around me turn from green to gold. We were in Glen Elyn last weekend helping our son and his wife with the landscaping around their home. Even the drive to their home (about 90 miles) is filled with beautiful farms and fields.

This captures autumn beautifully, as do your words. I can feel its glow, golden and comforting...

Hi Caroline, Thank you for your lovely words.
