Solitary Path

Solitary Path

Today is painting day - promise! I put everything back in my studio. For the past two weeks, it's been Christmas cards, shopping, going to family get-togethers, tree trimming and house decorating. I forget what else. Oh yeah, and managing my eBay. I put some paintings up for 3 day auction for last minute shoppers. If anyone is interested, you might want to click here.

Ideas have been carefully percolating and now I'm itching to paint. Even if I just do underpaintings. Being away from my paints has been a withdrawal type of experience. So instead of just talking about it, I'm headed to the studio. Right now.

Beautiful piece, Janelle! Enjoy your day of painting. Cookie baking is on the agenda for me today.

women are the merrymakers --there would be no Christmas without us! lol...but I am glad that you now have time to get back to work. I'm tuned in to see what you'll produce. Is the eBay thing going as expected?

Not only do I enjoy your thoughts/musings, and your paintings, but your titles also seem to have a lot of feelings/thougts in them. Have a great day.

I love this piece Janelle! Can't wait to see what you paint next. :)

Hi Celeste, I had to chuckle at your comment about women being the merrymakers ... so true! The eBay thing is going fine. I need to remember that, just like selling my work elsewhere, the artist needs to get a following of people who are interested, and that takes time.

Hi Manon, Hope you had good luck shopping. I still need a few more things. Thanks!

Hi Pam, Thanks, the titles sometimes stump me. I think I need a good dictionary to come with some new ones. I'm off to see what you've been up to now!

Hi Betsy, Thanks so much. You love solitude too? Seems I can never get enough (sigh).

Hi Becky, Thanks for your kind words. Yes, I think most people are drawn to the warmer colors, instead of cool. I know I am :)

O.K. enough procrastinating. Time to get back in there! It is so easy to let Christmas chores dominate at this time of year. Once you go "in" to the painting world, it makes other things that much more difficult because getting "out" of it takes effort too!
I agree with you about ebay. People need to get to know you and your work. They also seem to need to know that you are recognized in other galleries and therefore your work (to them) is more valuable. It definitely takes time.
Nice painting. I want to be walking down that path, with the dog, and having some quiet time with nature.

Love the looseness and color of this painting! I've been itching to paint too! I have two paintings going that I haven't had time to develop! I don't see light at the end of the tunnel until after Christmas day!

I know the feeling...that itch! Glad you are back to work.
looking forward...

Hi Michelle, Thanks! And I enjoy seeing the old historic structures on your blog.

Hi Catherine, Yes, getting out of the painting habit is just as hard as getting into it. I just started some paintings and love the zen of it!

Hi Neetzy, There seems to be too much going on at this time of year, right? I'm always looking to simplify, but there's always one thing more. Looking forward to seeing your paintings!

Hi Karen, Yes, that itch that doesn't go away until we're back at work in front of the easel :) Even two hours of work a day seems to satisfy!
