Bounty

Bounty
5x7
Oil on Canvas

While I've been enjoying reading about everyone's painting adventures this summer, I've turned to my studio and realize I need to reorganize.  So this is what I'll be doing in the coming weeks.  Not only am I reorganizing my studio, but I'll be reorganizing my blog and website.  I'll talk more about that later, as the changes actually happen.

For me, the start of the new year is autumn.  When I was a kid I loved getting ready for school and planning for all the new starts and a fresh slate.  New school supplies, clothes and shoes.  Seeing friends again in a new way.  And what better time is there to make plans and mull things over than in the lazy dog days of August.

How cool Janelle. Re-organizing sounds like a terrific thing to do. I'll look forward to seeing the changes you've mentioned about your blog and website too. BTW, this is a beautiful painting...love the colors you used.

Hi Janelle...Love the colors too, it's a change, your "brown, sepia, raw sienna, earth colors" are terrific. You've captured a "summer view" here. The start of New Year in our country is not after or before a season, but after "Carnival"...in February. I'll visit your blog/website again to check the changes you've mentioned. Thanks for your words about my paintings, love your comments!

(then can you come an update my website too?) :)

I really like the reds against the greens and yellows.

Great vibrancy and movement in there. Those colors are a harbinger of Fall. Noticed you took a "tonal" break here. Both styles work for you. Nice painting.

I love the sounds of re-organizing. Is it somehow a rebirth as well? Did we feel starting school with everything new and organized, we would do much better, study harder? I am presently painting in an 8" x 8" space, with an attic at the beginning stages of becoming a studio. My husband decided that sailboat racing is a priority, and I understand. Summer is short. Will I do better in a bigger space? I don't know, but I am looking forward to trying it out. Autumn, less sailing, new beginnings!

Lovely painting..and I can relate to loving autumn and that whole "getting ready for school thing"...you described it well! I'll be tuned in to see your next work and a run down of what you organized!

Hi Kathleen, You're one of the people who inspired me to re-organize! Seems you've done some creative expanding lately too.

Hi Fabio, I would love to experience your "Carnival" sometime. Sounds intriguing! Thanks for your kind comments!

Hi Karen, I should have mentioned that this painting is from last year. Seems the paintings I've been working on lately take more glazing than I anticipated!

Hi Pam, Thanks! This one is kind of a riot of color, I think!

Hi Jill, Actually it's a little painting I did before I started in tonalism. I love your most recent lighthouse painting!

Hi Catherine, Your new studio space sounds so very exciting. Something to look forward to when the sailing season is over!

Hi Celeste, Goodness you've been busy lately! I can hardly keep up with you. That's awesome!

Happy re-organizing! I love the colors and looseness of this. I'm getting ready for the school year. It's funny but this time of year always seems to be more of a beginning than January.

Hi Neetzy, Getting ready for school, eh? Sounds like you think of this as the beginning of the year too. Love your latest painting!
